First Hike Oracle State Park

Wanderings

Imagine!!!  No sprained ankles, no swollen knees, not too many leg pains.  It was not the 2 mile Green Mountain, Colorado climb, (Thank Goodness) but it was fun.  This park had been closed since 2007 due to budget cut backs.  Today was the grand re opening, and the the hikers and well wishers turned out to visit the trails.  The ranch was owned by the Kann family from Sterling,IL and was a cattle ranch.  They sold most of the acreage to a mining company and donated the land to a Wild Life Preservation organization which raised enough money to reopen the park.  A reporter form the Arizona Star took our picture.  We'll see if we make the paper tomorrow.
